Navigate 3.1.4 LMS Reporting Quest

Consider the LMS explored during the Navigate skill. Then, in your blog, discuss the following: What are the options for grade reporting? Are there various levels? Which levels remain most valuable for the online instructor in regard to student performance?

The LMS program that I selected for my quest seems to offer everything needed for a successful online experience.  The MyGrades program, included under Tools offers not only information for students regarding their progress but allows the instructor to track the number of times the student has viewed the program.  The program allows for course messages that can be sent to individual students who are struggling with a particular topic.  Blackboard Help is available as well for students who have been identified as struggling with a specific topic.  The Achievements tool offers instructors a unique method of positively commenting on a student's progress.

Here is a list of the multiple reports available with this program:

All User Activity inside Content Areas

Course Activity Overview

Course Coverage Report

Course Performance

Overall Summary of User Activity

Student Overview for Single Course

User Activity in Forums

User Activity in Groups

These tools would be appropriate for all levels but the ones most beneficial to students would be those discussed in paragraph one.  This program also provides data that could be useful with analytics.  The data would allow the instructor to determine if the student is having issue with a specific concept or if this could be symptomatic of a learning disability.
