Evaluate 2.1.1 Data Driven Instruction, Analytics, Reporting Tools Quest

Review the artifacts above on student enrollments and student progress in the course. Then, provide a detailed description of all that this information tells you about the hypothetical course. Include how the teacher might adjust the course in the future based on the previous activity of these students. Document in a reflection on your blog.

Assuming the role of instructor, this artifact tells me that I'm working with three different courses this term.  The courses range in expectations greatly as the Economics and Government course are on level while the Microeconomics course is an Advanced Placement course meaning it is a college level course that will allow the student to take the AP exam and potentially earn credit.  This artifact also tells me that we only have a few months to cover everything that is going to be on the AP exam in early May which does not leave much time and is going to require a huge commitment on the part of the students.  Depending on the state, all four sections of the Economics course may be required to take an EOCT as well.  Currently the Georgia Department of Education is looking into waiving the EOCT for students who take Dual-Enrollment courses and will probably do the same for AP students.

This artifact provides me information on incentives.  Given that two of these students are paying for the course, potentially could expect greater commitment to the course.  This of course is not guaranteed but is generally the case.  Note also that I have two Gifted Students who will require extra rigor to ensure they do not get bored.  Unfortunately, all students will be taking the EOCT which means I will need to share the link to the study guide for the exam.

This image depicts a Student Information System report that shows page views by student and date accessed. The reports provides the teacher data regarding student progress and whether he or she is steadily progressing through the coursework or trying to complete assignments at the last minute.

Pretty obvious that the students are avoiding one area in particular 16/59.  Would be interesting to see what the assignment is as the instructor would need to adjust the activity.  Overall, the progress is good but if this is a short session course, the students are going to need to devote more time to the course.  This is where parent contact is critical as many of these students may find themselves too far behind to ever catch up.  Information should be provided to the students regarding the drop policy and how or if this is going to impact their GPA.
