Navigate 3.1.1 LMS Tool Categories Quest

In your blog, discuss the most relevant features offered in an LMS, which relate directly to effective online instruction. How might these be used in the online environment?

When it comes to offering online instruction, no feature is more important than another.  If the process does not work cooperatively, a break down in any single area will ensure that the online class fails to provide a quality educational experience.  Considering the many working parts; tools, Admin, Teacher Info, Course Content, Communication, Course Assessments, Grades, Reports, LOR, and ePortfolio it is obvious that all aspects must be quality if the goal of educational attainment is to be accomplished.

Having provided the assorted roles and responsibilities, still feel that if the quality of the course content is not to standards, the entire educational process fails.  All of the moving parts must be aligned but if the course itself is designed erroneously, students are not going to learn.  This is my fear with many of the Web 2.0 features...that the glitz becomes more important than the content.  Yes, having effective communications and interactive design is important but what if the topic is irrelevant to the course standards.  This happens in High School History classrooms where the instructor loves the Civil War and teaches it for an entire semester.  The assessments may be great, grades up-to-date, and communication immediate.  However, the course content is still lacking.
