Communicate 2.1.1 – Identify Stakeholders Quest
To complete this Quest:
In the virtual classroom, instructors must offer continuous updates to all stakeholders, such as parents, students, and school facilitators. Think about each of these stakeholder descriptions and discuss.
- Do the descriptions correlate to your perception?
It was obvious that instructors, parents, and students were part of this group. What surprised me was the local school administration. Really did not consider their role as they were not directly involved in the learning process.
- How can they be expanded upon or described further?
The local administration carry out a critical role in the educational process. While they help ensure quality of instruction, they more importantly work to protect the interest of the student. All too often, online students are "out of sight and out of mind". My meaning, online students are often forgotten about and a quality administrator can serve as a constant reminder for the district.
- Are there other stakeholders within an online environment not considered above?
It is also wise to never lose sight of the folks who maintain the student management system. Without tech support, any venture into online learning is doomed from the start.
