To complete this Quest:
Address the following questions in your blog concerning Lecture Capture:
- How would the resource function in the online classroom?
Seems that to address this question first one must establish perspective. I was a tend setter in the 80's and didn't realize it in that when I was going to be absent, my camcorder was used to record my lecture. The substitute only had to pop in the VHS tape and the students took notes. This tool is invaluable to online instructors as it provides an avenue to "glamorize" what could be a boring lecture.
Creative slides, videos, cartoons, and intermittent activities could be included in the program. This would enhance student interest and potentially improve student knowledge. My "death by PowerPoint" presentations were modified to include hands on activities that student maintained in an interactive notebook.
- How would the integration of Lecture Capture modify teaching methods?
Current trend in education is to ban the lecture method. As a purist, greatly disagree with this movement and can see how Lecture Capture could stem the tide against the lecture method. Presentations could be translated to ensure access to ESOL students and material could be differentiated to address student learning styles. I really see the integration of maps, videos, etc...as a treasure trove of learning opportunities available for students via this program.
