To create an ideal digital learning community you must have a topic that draws people together. The topic must be something that interests enough people to leave them willing to join your group. The community would need the bells and whistles to provide the eye candy but the infrastructure would need to be such that it would appeal to the techie as well. Many existing DLC's simply need to update and provide more flash. Interactive videos and graphics are what the next generation demands. That of course can be viewed in two ways but it is a fact that this generation needs stimulation. The DLC should tap into that and provide educational content the stimulates but more importantly teaches. Better yet design the DLC in such a way that the student is learning without realizing they are learning. An emphasis on learning styles would go far in helping students connect with a DLC.
