Character Traits
Online learning was once the joke of the academic world. My how a few years changes things. However, with this new way of learning, the directors and participants must create an online learning environment that ensures the safety and security of participants. While this technology has the potential for great things, their exists a sinister side as well. Only through a commitment to protecting information and remaining vigilant against new threats can we really create a safe learning environment.
In addition, this "Brave New World" carries with it the accepted standard of ethical behavior on the part of the host. While poor choices have always plagued individuals, that threat is greater given the fact that the online environment does not allow face-to-face interaction. We as professionals should never forget, "Do no harm".
Finally, the exemplary citizen must practice the same level of Professionalism online as they would in a classroom. Commitment to the well-being of your students and a commitment to excellence should be standard practice in the online community.

3. The individual who is committed to the well-being of students.
