What is the DLC like? What can Digital Citizens do to make the process of joining a DLC more appealing to and easier for students?

Name recognition was the factor that drew me to Khan Academy however, the emphasis on providing assistance to learners was the trait that caught my eye. Khan Academy is very easy to use and puts a tech novice like myself at ease. I joined Khan Academy due to the stories and news reports on the organization. Interesting that Khan Academy is going to partner with the College Board to offer free tutoring for the new SAT that is to roll out in 2016. While Khan Academy started with an emphasis on Math, they have expanded to include several academic disciplines and I look forward to their continued expansion.
Access to free tutoring is the easy sell for Khan Academy. Students come to me everyday relating their struggles in their Math class. Offering after-school tutoring is nice but most students have other things to do and like the convenience of online help.

Please include a sharable link to your bookmarks page. Also, while you describe what makes Khan Academy appealing for students, how might educators "make the process of joining a DLC more appealing to and easier for students?"
This is the DLC I joined as I found their site easy to use, visually appealing, and contained useful information for students: http://openstudy.com/study#/groups/History
Khan Academy is appealing to students for it checks all of their required boxes in that it is informative, entertaining, fast-paced with multiple formats for learning content. Educators can make the process more appealing by actually having the student test out the site prior to joining. The process of joining can be made easier by providing a "How To" link on your website. This guide would walk students step-by-step through the registration process and provide useful tips.
